PEP Guardiola issued a message to City fans after their title celebrations were put on hold by Jose Mourinho, saying: “You’ve got nothing to complain about.”

Two goals from Paul Pogba and Chris Smalling’s winner completed a remarkable turnaround for Mourinho’s side, leaving the Etihad crowd stunned. But Guardiola was quick to remind supporters just how good they’ve had it this season as they stand on the brink of being crowned champions.

“Of course we wanted to win,” said the City manager.

“I am not going to deny that, but we know exactly which team we played. They are second in the league. I am here to analyse the game, not the feelings.

“I am sorry for the fans – but I think they cannot have complaints about what we have done.”
