DUBAI, Or­lando and New York are among Man­cu­nian hol­i­day­mak­ers’ top 10 des­tina- tions. Manch­ester Air­port has re­leased fig­ures which show the favourite get­aways for those liv­ing in the 10 Greater Manch­ester bor­oughs.

In all, 8.3m pas­sen­gers from this re­gion jet­ted off to the 210 des­ti­na­tions served by Manch­ester.

And for the first time, the air­port is also show­ing how pref­er­ences dif­fer across dif­fer­ent coun­ties.

Liver­pudlians, for ex­am­ple, have Bos­ton, Toronto and Van­cou­ver in their top 10, while York­shire’s res­i­dents pre­fer Islamabad, Bei­jing and Sin­ga­pore.

Scots opt for trips to Hous­ton, Bar­ba­dos and Mon­tego Bay while San Fran­cisco and LA fea­ture in the Welsh top 10 list

Here are the top ten hotspots for Greater Manch­ester pas­sen­gers:

●● La­hore op­er­ated by PIA.

●● Can­cun op­er­ated by Thomas Cook Air­lines and TUI.

●● Hong Kong op­er­ated by Cathay Pa­cific.

●● Tel Aviv op­er­ated by easy­Jet.

●● Las Ve­gas op­er­ated by Vir­gin At­lantic and Thomas Cook Air­lines.

The air­port’s catch­ment area spans north to Scot­land, south to the Mid­lands, west to Wales and Mersey­side, and east across York­shire. Over­all, the pref­er­ences of the masses mir­ror those of Man­cu­ni­ans – with Dubai, Or­lando and New York tak­ing the top spots. But when you drill down to dif­fer­ent re­gions, there are some vari­a­tions in travel habits.

Manch­ester Air­port bosses have added many long-haul routes to the net­work in re­cent years – in­clud­ing Bei­jing, San Fran­cisco, Bos­ton, Muscat, Hous­ton and Hong Kong to name a few.

Pas­sen­gers travel both for tourism and for busi­ness, with many ma­jor tech, life sciences and ad­vanced man­u­fac­tur­ing links among them.
