AS we’ve just had the fi­nal Bank Hol­i­day week­end un­til CHRIST­MAS, it would seem that we all need some­thing to dis­tract our­selves.

Fear not, as there’s plenty to get ex­cited about over the com­ing months.

Tick­ets for The Over­tones and MNEK have gone on sale, as well as an ex­tra date added to Ge­orge Ezra’s up­com­ing arena tour.

Plus, there’s gigs for Span­ish in­die-rock girl band Hinds, Aus­tralian band John But­ler Trio, Amer­i­can rock band The Mag­pie Salute and an evening of Carnival Sounds at Band On The Wall.

The Over­tones, Manch­ester Bridge­wa­ter Hall De­cem­ber 10, 2018 THE Lon­don-based vo­cal har­mony group are re­turn­ing to the Bridge­wa­ter Hall for their an­nual Christ­mas con­cert. This will be the first tour that The Over­tones em­bark upon as a four, fol­low­ing the tragic death of fel­low band mate Timmy Mat­ley ear­lier this year.

Their up­com­ing al­bum, which will be re­leased on Oc­to­ber 19, fea­tures songs writ­ten and per­formed by the group as a five. This hugely tal­ented singer-song­writer and record pro­ducer has worked with the likes of Bey­oncé, Madonna, Kylie Minogue and Dua Lipa, to name but a few. MNEK’s solo work takes in­flu­ences from R&B, pop, dance and soul, and of­ten tack­les is­sues re­lat­ing to LGBT and black com­mu­ni­ties. Ge­orge Ezra, Manch­ester Arena March 23 2019 MORE Ge­orge Ezra fans can get their fill, as the pop sen­sa­tion has added a sec­ond Manch­ester date to his UK tour next year.

He will play the Manch­ester Arena for two con­sec­u­tive Satur­day nights in March as part of his first head­line UK arena tour. Ezra’s num­ber 1 al­bum Stay­ing at Ta­mara’s is the big­gest sell­ing al­bum of the year so far and re­mains at num­ber 5 in the Of­fi­cial Charts.

The Manch­ester show forms part of an ex­ten­sive World Tour which in­cludes shows in the US, Ja­pan and more across Europe. John But­ler Trio, Al­bert Hall Oc­to­ber 12 2018 ONE of Aus­tralia’s big­gest acts, John But­ler Trio, is com­ing to Manch­ester’s Al­bert Hall in Oc­to­ber as part of a UK tour. The band is syn­ony­mous with a heavy acous­tic sound and cam­paign­ing global is­sues of equal­ity and con­ser­va­tion­ism. The up­com­ing al­bum Home will be re­leased the day be­fore the Manch­ester show on Oc­to­ber 11. Tick­ets on sale now from See Tick­ets. The Mag­pie Salute, Academy 2 De­cem­ber 3 2018 THIS Amer­i­can rock band formed in 2016 by for­mer Black Crowes guitarist Rich Robin­son is per­form­ing at Academy 2 for their de­but Manch­ester gig.

The Mag­pie Salute will ar­rive in the UK on the back of an ex­ten­sive tour in the United States and Europe.

The tour cel­e­brates their re­cent de­but stu­dio al­bum High Water 1, which was re­leased ear­lier this month.

Manch­ester’s Caribbean Carnival might be over, but the Carnival Sounds are re­turn­ing to the city in a few weeks’ time cour­tesy of Don Letts.

The BBC 6 Mu­sic pre­sen­ter, DJ, film­maker and all-round Reg­gae leg­end re­turns to Band On The Wall this Septem­ber for a new se­ries of club­nights cu­rated by the man him­self.

Don Letts is joined by drum ‘n’ bass DJ Grooverider and Mr Scruff’s right hand man MC Kwasi for a night of reg­gae, funk, disco, soul and hip hop.
