Green Powers to cup success for Gallagher

» GREEN Power struck in the finale at Ascot’s Shergar Cup fixture to give his Gloucestershire connections a day to remember.

The three-year-old colt built on encouraging earlier this season by taking the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Sprint under Joao Moreira.

In a driving finish, the John Gallagher-trained 12/1 shot stuck on bravely to narrowly prevail from the fast-finishing Roundhay Park, whose jockey Hayley Turner secured the trophy for The Girls.

She also claimed the Silver Saddle for top jockey, UK racing’s only team event which features riders from Great Britain and Ireland, Europe and the Rest of The World.
