Pic­ture per­fect

Just like many avid golfers I own a framed copy of the ‘Ben Ho­gan, 1-iron’ pic­ture. He’s sur­rounded by thou­sands of ador­ing fans as he hits his fa­mous sec­ond shot into Me­rion’s 18th at the 1950 US Open.

I’ll now be hang­ing an­other photo along­side it (be­low). It’s of my eightyear-old son, Martin, at Doon­beg’s 14th. He is play­ing a links golf course for the very first time and the shot, which fin­ished five feet short of the pin, was wit­nessed by only two: his mother and fa­ther.
