NAIRN

Golf Monthly - - Rory Mcilroy -

It had been some years since my last round at Nairn, and my abiding memory was a need not to slice early on. This was easier said than done into a fierce wind, but I managed to keep my ball off the beach flanking most of the opening stretch on the right. This is a superb links, playing over a slender Firthside strip with a minor triangular inland detour from 13 to 15. There are many excellent and often well-bunkered holes, plus some magnificent views, especially from the tee of the long par-3 14th playing back down towards the Firth – a hole I strangely had little recollection of from previous visits. Stats: par 71, 6,441 yards W: nairngolfclub.co.uk GF: £120 per round; £180 for two rounds in four days
