FORTROSE AND ROSEMARKIE

Golf Monthly - - Rory Mcilroy -

This wonderful old links set on a slender Black Isle headland almost opposite Castle Stuart was an interesting experience in a fiveclub wind, but with vibrant gorse everywhere and under beautiful blue skies, it was a visual delight. I’ve never played anywhere with so many tees right by the lapping waves, as they are on most of the first eight holes. I was pretty relieved to make the front nine ‘turn’ on the 6th – a wonderful little 133-yarder by the lighthouse – and actually get some wind assistance for a few holes. I’d long wanted to play here, and it didn’t disappoint. Stats: par 71, 5,893 yards W: fortrosegolfclub.co.uk GF: £45/£60wd per round/day; £50/£70we
