Get your pack of sustainable bamboo Green Tees
Green Tees founder Simon Hassett was a member at Bramshaw Golf Club in the New Forest, which is heavily populated by wildlife, including horses, cows, deer and sheep. Simon noticed the tee boxes were always littered with broken or lost plastic tees, despite the direct impact on wildlife and the more long-term indirect effect on the environment. Discarded plastic tees are currently an issue on most golf courses in the world.
The solution was to make environmentally friendly golf tees. Green Tees are made from biodegradable bamboo, printed on with non-toxic inks. The packaging is either recyclable or compostable or the tees are sold in no packaging at all, depending where you buy from. They don’t only provide environmental benefits but also robust performance that stands up against plastic competitors and wooden tees.
Much like hardwood trees, Bamboo absorbs carbon dioxide, but it releases around 35% more oxygen. There’s also very little waste, with almost 100% of the harvested bamboo used in the construction of the tees, and bamboo tees are tougher than hardwood tees.
After the success of launching online and in pro shops all over the UK, Green Tees expanded its product range to include biodegradable castle and graduated tees – environmentally sensitive replacements for the commonly used plastic castle tee. Green Tees has also launched a range of drinking containers to discourage golfers from single-use plastic bottles. With an increasing number of golf clubs prioritising environmental sustainability, now is the time to sample Green Tees’ offering.
