WHY I SWITCHED TO THE TP5x
By Rory McIlroy, TaylorMade Staff Pro
After the Masters, I looked at a lot of different things with my equipment. I worked with the TaylorMade guys on the range and looked at the golf ball data on Trackman. When I reviewed the numbers, I thought to myself, “Wow, this is what I need; this is exactly the thing that I’ve been struggling with.”
Over the course of the next few days, I tested different combinations of clubs and balls and came to the conclusion that switching to the TP5x was the best way forward for me to improve, get back to World No.1 and win more tournaments and majors. The performance of the ball in the wind was the big thing. It was noticeable how stable the TP5 ball was. My old Nike ball was really stable too, and that’s what I really liked about it. With my previous ball, once the velocity went out of the shot and it got hit with a side wind it would move, whereas you can hold the TP5 against the wind really well. I tested quite a few balls and the TP5 is the best ball I’ve ever hit. I feel like it’s really the best ball for me and my game going forwards.
