FROM THE SOFA: KIT ALEXANDER
“SKY GOT THE BALANCE JUST RIGHT THIS TIME”
While you don’t get to soak up the atmosphere from your sofa, I prefer to watch the final round on TV since you can enjoy the true perspective of the day as it all unfolds. Sky Sports’ coverage of last year’s Open won a BAFTA, but the balance was even better this year. The golf was the star of the show and the extra bells and whistles were inserted more thoughtfully.
There can be no denying that Sky’s coverage has enhanced the Open viewing experience. The expertise and insight from coaches and pundits who cover the tour week in and week out is excellent and I really enjoyed seeing the players in the Sky Zone next to the range. It felt like they were more relaxed and candid with a golf club in hand – and they handed out some pretty good tips too. Thinking back, I don’t remember too many annoying ad breaks either.
