Greenside bunkers aren’t always the worst miss

Golf World (UK) - - TOUR TIPS -

The bunker looks like the bad miss, but it depends where the pin position is. If it’s cut close to the bunker then you definitely don’t want to go in it so you should aim a bit right but if the pin is away from the bunker then it could be an easier up-and-down from the sand rather than short-siding yourself in the rough – as long as the bunker isn’t too severe and you’re a reasonable sand player. Always try to leave yourself a straight uphill putt, whether that’s from your approach or a recovery shot around the green.
