Leave yourself a comfortable third

Golf World (UK) - - TOUR TIPS -

If you’re thinking about going over the water in two you have to be honest about your chances of hitting that shot successfully. If you’re not confident of clearing it at least five times out of 10 then you should definitely lay up. If your chances are higher, it’s about balancing the risk and reward with the situation that you’re in. Generally speaking, I like to lay up as close as possible but half shots can be difficult for the average golfer so I’d suggest leaving a full shot in if that’s what you’re more comfortable with.
