Working our MAGIC

THE HAIR

Kathryn wanted to keep the length but was happy to have a change in style. Luke at Aveda added in more uniform layers, which framed her face. A rich chestnut-coloured vegetable tint added gloss and shine, while tonal highlights lift the colour.

THE MAKE-UP

‘To prevent colour smudging on hooded eyes, prep lids with an oil-free primer,’ suggests Liz. ‘Buffing a light shade on to the eyelid and a deeper tone into the crease gives the illusion of definition and makes eyes look bigger.’ As Kathryn doesn’t usually wear lipstick, Liz chose a balmy, rose-pink tone that was easy to apply and added a flattering plumpness and colour to her lips. For a statement look, manicurist Tanya used OPI Infinite Shine in Party at Holly’s, £13.95. This dark, plummy shade creates a fun contrast to her outfit.

THE CLOTHES

‘This season, pleated skirts are everywhere, and they’re easy to dress up or down,’ says stylist Emma Bigger. And the nipped-in waistband creates a flattering silhouette.

THE RESULT

‘I usually scrape my hair into a ponytail but the layers have given it lots of movement; I’ll definitely wear it down more often. I’m determined to be more experimental.’ says Kathryn.
