For­get skinny lat­tes, it’s all about adding su­per­foods to cof­fee – think turmeric, co­conut sugar, maca, chia seeds, pro­tein pow­der – or drink­ing ‘bul­let­proof’ cof­fee, where milk is re­placed with but­ter and co­conut oil or MCT oil. But are these con­coc­tions re­ally that su­per? Prob­a­bly not. In fact, the cof­fee, not the ex­tras, prob­a­bly gives the great­est health ben­e­fits, says GH nu­tri­tion­ist Anita Bean. As well as boost­ing con­cen­tra­tion, cof­fee may have neu­ro­pro­tec­tive ef­fects against dis­eases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkin­son’s.
