ILLUMINATING PRIMERS

-

Covid-19 may have pushed sustainability to the backs of our minds, but with a new year comes new ideas in the beauty space. Green People One Balm, £20, for example, is impressive, not only for its versatility (you can shave or cleanse with it as well as use it on lips, cuticles and dry patches of skin), but also because it comes in a pot and box made from wood and plant polymers, which are biodegradable. The packaging only works for waterless products right now, but it strikes me as a wonderful innovation. Likewise, P&G, which is behind such household names as Herbal Essences and Pantene, is set to launch shampoo refills this month. The new reusable bottles, £9.99, are aluminium and the refill pouches, from £4, use 60% less plastic than the standard bottles. Then there are Garnier Ultimate Blends Shampoo Bars, £7.99 each; creamy, with technology for a water-saving fast rinse. Getting greener just got easier.
