Despite earlier denials of a relationship, Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx’s romantic stroll on the beach said it all
There had been years of rumours, photos and even accidental confirmation from their friend (thanks, US reality TV star Claudia Jordan). And yet, Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx continued to deny their relationship ( it was ‘fake news’ in May).
That all changed in September. In a series of paparazzi pictures, Katie and Jamie officially took their romance public as they were captured holding hands and hugging on a beach in Malibu. The worst kept secret in Hollywood – that the actors had been dating for four years – was out.
The timing of the pictures confirmed what insiders had suspected: that Katie had signed a contract following her 2012 divorce from Tom Cruise that forbade her from ‘publicly dating’ until five years later. The document apparently also prohibited her from speaking about Tom’s religion Scientology or their marriage. It expired in July, just months before she and Jamie were officially pictured together for the first time.
At the time, Ronald Miscavige (father of the Church of Scientology’s leader, David) told us, ‘Nobody knows for sure if she signed the agreement, but I know that when she left him she did date other people on the sly. I’m sure she’s eager to get her life back and not have to hide her new romance any more.’
According to a source, ‘September was the moment Katie had been waiting for, and she couldn’t have been more thrilled to finally be taking their relationship out of the shadows. They both feel like a weight has been lifted now that they no longer need to be constantly looking over their shoulders. It’s been a long time coming.’ And as Grazia went to press, the couple were pictured celebrating Jamie’s 50th in LA. 2017: the year that Katie Holmes was finally free of Cruise control.
