As new revelations about Facebook’s data scandal come to light every day, it’s made us think (again) about our reliance on social networks. We know it’s making us anxious, potentially even depressed. But every time we try a digital detox, we’re off the wagon in no time, scrolling glassy-eyed way past our bedtime. Then, last week, #Deletefacebook was trending. But would you? Could you? Did you? Whether you go cold turkey, are more cautious about what you share, or talk to your friends IRL instead of online, let’s take a moment to see the silver lining behind this fiasco: every one of us is now checking our relationship with the black mirror. It’s time to stop being slaves to social media.
