2 Lovely Gays
MAKE A HAPPY HOME
A change is the best way to start the year with a happy vibe. We love the feeling of clearing the deck and refreshing our surroundings with some simple changes to get us read for the New Year. So a declutter is always on the cards for us in January and a bit of colour therapy. Colour has the wonderful ability to change your surroundings for a small amount of cash, for those of us who need to tighten the strings.
Get playful, splash out that paint and be brave. Don’t go for a feature wall, treat the four walls to colour or banish your white ceiling, and give the most overlooked part of your room some love. A colourful painted ceiling, be it striped or plain, shows that you like fun and can redefine a space.
We gave you the heads up last year about terracotta as the new big colour for interiors – and now Pantone have announced their colour of the year for 2015 is ‘marsala’. And we aren’t talking chicken tikka. Marsala is basically a new pimped version of terracotta. Dulux have also given their own twist on this warm tone with their colour of the year, copper blush. We don’t wanna say we told you, but we told you so.
Alternatively, for a real whack in the face of happy, go for Farrow and Ball’s yellowcake. Last year, F&B proved that they could give fresh colour with the best of them with a new range of brights. Yellow can be tricky to get right, but this shade is perfect for brightening up your life.
As for us, we’re in moving house limbo land, so we’re gagging to get the move date and crack open some paint. In the meantime, there’s another way to keep smiling. Organic veg boxes, snack boxes, underwear boxes, dog boxes. Everyone has gone mad for boxes of treats arriving at their door to feed their own personal obsession. Well, if you have a design-shaped hole in your life, get involved with Designer Box UK. We’ve just received our first pleasing instalment and it’s sure to make any design freak happy, with a new piece of the best product design sent as to you every month.
Don’t mind if we do.
