Who’d have thought that on Christmas Day, we’d both have the same idea of proposing to each other? But that’s just what happened, and now we’re married and looking towards the future.

Shaun and I met on Plenty of Fish in February 2013, and spent more than a month just talking to each other. After a while, we both took the plunge and arranged to meet in Lincoln and that was it. We both fell in love.

It’s strange; we both have different interests and views, but somehow it all works out amazingly. Shaun already knew that I had two children from a previous marriage and he has always been fine with this.

At last year’s Christmas, I decided to find out Shaun’s ring size to ask him to marry me.

But the surprise was on me when he turned up on Christmas Day with a ring for me as well! We both said yes and began planning our wedding.

We tied the knot at the Earl of Doncaster Hotel on 25 October, 2014. My daughter was my bridesmaid and Shaun’s sister was his, while his brother was his best man and my son was mine.

Embarrassingly, as I walked down the aisle to Whitney Houston’s I Look To You with my daughter by my side, my emotions got the better of me and I became a right mess. But as soon as Shaun came to me, everything felt so amazing and so right. Then it was off to Egypt for our honeymoon!

Our future plans now involve trying to get a mortgage and having a child of our own, hopefully fathered by Shaun. Trying to find a surrogate is proving difficult – but I’m optimistic and truly believe that it’ll happen, I’m sure.

If we can’t have our own child, we’ll adopt and we’ll give them all the love we can give.

I never thought I’d find my happily ever after, but somehow I did.
