Halifax dance academy students are ‘quick-stepping’ to success.

Strickland Cook Theatre School student Matthew Flinders has successfully auditioned and gained a full-time place on a Dance and Musical Theatre course at the prestigious Laine Theatre Arts in London.

Chloe Byrnes has won a regional heat of Miss Dance Great Britain and will compete in the Grand Final at Blackpool Opera House in June.

Chloe Byrnes, Isabelle Barker, Emma Kershaw and Lilly Beckett were all successful in auditioning for The Sound of Music and will play four of the Von Trapp children at the Lawrence Batley Theatre in April.

The following students have all been nominated for IDTA scholarships after gaining top marks in recent Ballet, Tap and Modern exams. Only 80 students in each subject are nominated throughout the country each year so to have so many nominations in one school is a great achievement. The nominated students are Megan Rawlins, Chloe Byrnes, Ellie Wilson, Holly Baines, Ella Midgley, Erin Armitage, Maddie Armitage and Amelia Henderson, pictured.

Leela Kapil has been accepted as a Junior Associate of the Royal Ballet School.
