Children at All Saints’ Junior and Infant School were full of smiles as they enjoyed a session on the bikes as part of the school’s “Get Moving” initiative. The project has been introduced to encourage pupils to “get on their bikes” in an attempt to keep them active and develop a healthy lifestyle. Two instructors from cycling profi- ciency organisation Bikeability were on hand to offer guidance and support to the children, some of whom were experiencing their first time on a bike. All Saints’ PE subject leader Helen Hudson said: “Year five and six have loved it. They’ve asked to have a cycle club after school because they’ve enjoyed it so much, so we’re now work- ing with Brooksbank School to see if we can go there and use their circuit. “With the weather improving it’s good for the children to get on their bikes and keep fit, healthy and active.” Bikeability instructor Suzy Straughan said: “They’re really enjoying it and you can see their confidence and skills increasing all the time.”
