Youngsters played their part in raising the £500,000 needed for the Halifax Courier Bodyscanner Appeal in 1989. These young cyclists,right, raised £24.50 with a sponsored cycle ride round the Luddenden Valley. From the left Scott Manning, Andrew Mitchell and David Devine presented the money to Courier promotions assistants Helen Hayley, left, and Caron Swallow. Far right: Neighbours Nicola O’Shea, Kirsty Aitchison, Stacey O’Shea and Dean Gatenby, raised £16.86 with a sponsored cleanup of their street in Illingworth, Halifax. They spent a day gardening, washing cars and sweeping drives.
