Par­adise for Thou­sands flock to scoff

The eighth an­nual Hal­i­fax Food and Drink Fes­ti­val was a huge suc­cess last week­end and had some­thing to suit ev­ery­one’s tastes. Thou­sands of peo­ple flocked to the town cen­tre to have a great day out and try some lo­cal food. The fes­ti­val aims to bring to­gether the very best of the re­gions home grown lo­cal pro­duce along with a taste of York­shire and the rest of the world. There were over 100 stalls and ex­hibitors that took over Corn Mar­ket and Rus­sell Street on Satur­day and Sun­day with some­thing to suit all taste­buds. Thai Style, An­drew Jones Pies and Nib­ble Nose Cheese Com­pany were just a few of the com­pa­nies that were sell­ing their wares over the week­end to hun­gry cus­tomers. Plenty of chefs from the Calderdale area show­cased their tal­ents in the cook­ery the­atre and showed that the re­gion knows a lot about food. Richard Walsh, chief lec­turer at Calderdale Col­lege, along with some of the stu­dents at the col­lege, did three demon­stra­tions on the Satur­day
