So, what might have hap­pened to pri­vate Tam­blin? His per­sonal cir­cum­stances are largely un­known, but it seems he would prob­a­bly have been in­volved in the on­go­ing at­tempts to push the Turk­ish forces out of the Gal­lipoli penin­su­lar. In early June, Arthur Tam­blin’s unit, had been part of a new of­fen­sive. The whole op­er­a­tion was ill-fated and both sides suf­fered con­sid­er­able ca­su­al­ties. In his re­cent book ‘The Gal­lipoli Ex­pe­ri­ence Re­con­sid­ered’, Peter Liddle says,
