This photo taken in Sowerby Bridge in Novem­ber 1929 was sent in by Les Forester, of Tre­nance Gar­dens, Greet­land. It shows the open­ing of the me­mo­rial gate­way to Crow Wood Park, built to re­mem­ber those in the town who died in World War I. It was opened by prom­i­nent lo­cal coun­cil­lor Frank Clay, who had helped raise money for the gates by sub­scrip­tion; he is pic­tured with Bri­gadier R E Sug­den.
