Making little girl’s dream come true

Halifax Courier - - News Special - By Felicity Macnamara

A fundraising event is being held to send a little girl battling a brain tumour on the holiday of a lifetime to Disney World. Little Imogen Diggle, three, was diagnosed last February and her doting family, who live in Pellon, have vowed to take her on the magical trip once her 18-month chemotherapy treatment has finished.

The fundraising total currently stands at more than £5,000 thanks to well-wishers who want to make Imogen’s dream come true.

Her family said that when Imogen was registered as blind, due to the tumours killing the nerves in her left eye, people ramped up their fundraising efforts so they could take the trip before the brave tot’s sight gets any worse.

Speaking last year, dad Ben Diggle, 28, said: “Imogen has been so brave through her treatment and we feel she deserves a special treat for all her courage. She’s a little fighter.

“She has always loved her Disney princesses and is always singing along to Frozen, so we just thought a trip might give her a bit of a break.

“We are saving all we can and are so grateful for all the help we’ve received so far. The thought of the holiday is really keeping us going.”

On Saturday, March 5, there will be a charity fundraising night for Imogen at the White Horse pub, Burnley Road, Sowerby Bridge. If anyone has any unwanted gifts or presents that could be auctioned off, they are asked to drop them into the pub.
