700 BED HOSPITAL
An expanded Calderdale Royal Hospital would have up to 700 beds along with beefedup A&E services serving both Halifax and Huddersfield. The revamped hospital could also house a new state-of-theart children’s A&E, providing dedicated paediatric emergency care for families in two districts for the first time.
More details of a planned shake-up have been released by National Health Service bosses ahead of a public consultation.
The plans would tackle a £280m funding gap - but travel times to hospital could rise and Huddersfield would lose its A&E and 280 beds.
