Halifax’s Gentleman Jack up for another TV award

GENTLEMAN JACK is up for the Best New Drama title at this year’s TV Choice Awards.

The BBC and HBO period drama is set in Halifax in the early 19th century and follows the life of diarist and landowner Anne Lister.

The series was filmed at Shibden Hall along with a number of other locations in Calderdale and attracted an audience of around five million viewers each week.

The series is up against other top dramas, Normal People,

White House Farm and Gangs of London.

Viewers can cast their votes until midnight on July 17 by visiting awards.tvchoicema­gazine. co.uk.

This announceme­nt comes one month after the drama, written by Sally Wainwright, was nominated for two British Academy Television Awards (Baftas).

Suranne Jones, who played Anne Lister, is up for leading actress and the show is up for best drama.
