A motorist has denied driving a car through Hamilton streets with its windscreen smashed while he was disqualified.

Jordan Smith, 22, of Sandy Road, Carluke, pleaded not guilty to not being properly in control of the vehicle on Glasgow Road and Bertram Street, Burnbank, last Wednesday.

He also denied driving while disqualified and without insurance as well as attempting to pervert the course of justice by repeatedly providing false details of his identity.

Sarah Jane Kelly (22), of Charles Street, Shotts, pleaded not guilty to causing or permitting Smith to use the vehicle without insurance.

At Hamilton Sheriff Court last Thursday Sheriff David Bicket set the trial for June 27 and granted bail.
