Co-op customers help good causes

-

Shoppers at Stonehouse’s Co-op store have helped three local groups receive funding boosts.

Each time they shop, local customers can donate one per cent of the value of Co-op branded products they purchase towards local causes by simply swiping their membership cards.

Staff at the store recently celebrated“giving Day”, donating £2002 to 1st Stonehouse Girl Guides, £1955 to Avondale Community Transport Group and £1976 to Lesmahagow Old People’s Welfare Committee.

Store manager Stephen Provan said:“each time Co-op members swipe their cards at the checkout, one per cent of the value of Co-op branded products are donated towards local causes, which were voted for by members themselves last year.

“On April 19 we celebrated Giving Day, the day where all of the money saved up since the launch of this initiative has been transferred into the accounts of the causes associated with the membership scheme.

“A massive thank you goes to our loyal customers from all at the store and the groups who have benefited this time around.”
