Dee game ‘massive’ says Allan

-

Young Motherwell midfielder Allan Campbell admits his side must get a result against Dundee on Saturday in a bid to steer clear of the Scottish Premiership drop-zone.

Neil Mccann makes his dug-out debut as he brings his Dark Blues to a Lanarkshire venue where they won 5-1 the last time out.

Following a series of seven straight defeats, ending in a 2-0 loss against Hamilton at Dens Park a fortnight ago, Paul Hartley was sacked by Dundee, and they drafted in Mccann – who started out with the Dens Park club before going on to star for Scotland, Rangers and Hearts.

A Well win would open up a five-point gap over Dundee in 11th place, and this is precisely what Campbell has in his sights.

The 18-year-old said:“we have to take each game as it comes and keep kicking on.

“The Dundee game is massive and we have to work the same, prepare the same way we do every week and go out on Saturday and get a result.

“Mentally, after the break, we just need to keep going, train hard and prepare ourselves for the game.

“We want to finish as high up the league as we possibly can.”

Campbell got his first Motherwell goal in the 4-2 win over relegation-haunted Inverness a fortnight ago, and says the reaction from team-mates has given him a lift.

He said:“i’m still over the moon just now. At training all of the boys have been giving me praise, which has been good – and it’s not like me to score either!

“It’s great knowing that all of the boys want you to do well and it’s obviously a proud moment for me, getting my first goal for Motherwell.”
