£8000 boostfor youth football
Stonehouse Diversionary Football has received a funding windfall from the National Lottery.
The group was awarded £8439 from the Big Lottery Fund after applying to the Awards for All Scotland scheme.
The club aims to support and deliver a range of youthled activities benefiting young people from Stonehouse, Larkhall, Strathaven and surrounding areas.
The funding will be used to support the group’s start-up costs and to deliver regular football training.
A National Lottery Awards for All spokesperson said: “This is National Lottery money in action, reaching into communities across Scotland making a real difference to the people who live there.”
Dr Lisa Cameron, MP for East Kilbride, Strathaven and Lesmahagow, welcomed the grant.
She said: “This funding will make a huge difference to the community group. We need to ensure that children are being active to prevent obesity but also to create a strong sense of community and sports potential.”
