£8000 boost­for youth foot­ball

Stone­house Di­ver­sion­ary Foot­ball has re­ceived a fund­ing wind­fall from the Na­tional Lot­tery.

The group was awarded £8439 from the Big Lot­tery Fund af­ter ap­ply­ing to the Awards for All Scot­land scheme.

The club aims to sup­port and de­liver a range of youth­led ac­tiv­i­ties ben­e­fit­ing young peo­ple from Stone­house, Larkhall, Strathaven and sur­round­ing ar­eas.

The fund­ing will be used to sup­port the group’s start-up costs and to de­liver reg­u­lar foot­ball train­ing.

A Na­tional Lot­tery Awards for All spokesper­son said: “This is Na­tional Lot­tery money in ac­tion, reach­ing into com­mu­ni­ties across Scot­land mak­ing a real dif­fer­ence to the peo­ple who live there.”

Dr Lisa Cameron, MP for East Kil­bride, Strathaven and Les­ma­hagow, wel­comed the grant.

She said: “This fund­ing will make a huge dif­fer­ence to the com­mu­nity group. We need to en­sure that chil­dren are be­ing ac­tive to pre­vent obe­sity but also to cre­ate a strong sense of com­mu­nity and sports po­ten­tial.”
