Robbo’s changes fix ’Well

-

Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson hailed his squad strength and says being able to make positive changes is making a difference, writes Graham Barnstaple.

The Steelmen made it three home wins in a row thanks to second-half strikes from Ryan Bowman and Louis Moult but the win followed some inspired substitutions.

Robinson said:“i thought we dominated the whole game but our decision-making in the first half was poor as we played too many poor passes rather than be patient.

“We corrected that at half-time and I think the subs made an impact, and it was the type of game where we needed to add a little more quality into the game.

“There was no question of commitment or desire, it was just a bit of quality.

“We have a squad now where I can turn round and make a change, whereas last season the team pretty much picked itself.”

Motherwell tested Jamie Macdonald with a few efforts, sending others whistling past the uprights, but they eventually took the lead in 65 minutes.

Sub Gael Bigirimana played a delightful ball into the box for Ryan Bowman who smashed it high into the net.

When Bowman was tripped by Iain Wilson in 88 minutes, Moult stepped up and sent Macdonald the wrong way.
