Sheldon takes Stirling

-

Hamilton’s international triathlete Grant Sheldon won the Stirling 10k road race on Sunday, adding the title to his recent Scottish 5000m gold win on the track. From a total of 844 runners who turned out in the rain, Grant was first male home, and Shettleston Harriers’ Fionnuala Ross took the women’s top prize with a personal best time of 33 minutes and 59 seconds. Cambuslang Harriers athlete Sheldon finished the course in 30.31 and set his sights on other races of a similar distance. Sheldon (23) said:“i’ve had about 30.45 for a 10k split in a triathlon but that’s coming off the bike. “The Leeds 10k is one I want to do now in a couple of months – because that’s a race where the strength and depth of the field is such that I feel I could maybe break the 30-minute mark.” A two-kilometre fun run was also held and it was won by Matthew Gallon, from Stirling Triathlon Club, in a time of 6.37.
