Man jailed for having shotgun
A Netherburn man has been jailed for 14 months after pleading guilty to a firearms charge.
Alexander Jamieson appeared before Sheriff SA Waldron for sentencing at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Monday, November 7.
The 34-year-old, of Craignethan Crescent, admitted having a loaded double-barrelled shotgun at Threepwood Moss woods on December 28 last year.
The court had heard that Jamieson carried out the offence while on bail for another matter.
He pleaded guilty to the charge in September, and was granted bail while sentencing was deferred.
Sheriff Waldron this week sentenced Jamieson to 14 months’imprisonment, two months of which was imposed in respect of the offence being committed while on bail.
Jamieson’s sentence was discounted from 18 months due to his guilty plea.
