Reading Boost! from service
Hundreds of books are to be given away in Hamilton, Blantyre and Larkhall next week to mark World Book Night (April 23).
Boost! – South Lanarkshire’s Community Learning and Home-school Partnership’s Adult Literacy and Numeracy service – has organised a series of events.
The service’s Kate Mcgeough explained: “A core element of our work is to develop reading skills, and for this reason, during the week beginning April 16, we are holding a ‘book giveaway’ around South Lanarkshire.
“We have been collecting pre-loved books of all types which would otherwise end up in landfall, from libraries, booksellers, private donors and other sources.
“We intend to give these books away at stalls throughout the county.”
The first event will be held at Asda in Hamilton on Monday, April 16, between 10am and noon, followed by Asda in Blantyre the next day, again between 10am and noon. The third date will be at Larkhall Library on Thursday, April 19, between 1.30 and 3.30pm.
