Still time to get on your marks for town’s 10k

Run­ners have un­til mid­night this Sun­day (Septem­ber 16) to sign up for Hamil­ton’s 10k.

More than 600 peo­ple have al­ready signed up for the Hamil­ten, which will take place in the town on Satur­day, Septem­ber 22.

The event is be­ing or­gan­ised by the Hamil­ton Busi­ness Im­prove­ment Dis­trict (BID) and will start and fin­ish at Cas­tle Street.

The route will in­clude Low Parks Mu­seum, the Palace Grounds, the Davie Cooper Memo­rial and Strath­clyde Park.

All par­tic­i­pants will re­ceive a medal and there will be prizes awarded the win­ners of each cat­e­gory: 1st, 2nd and 3rd male and fe­male over­all; 1st, 2nd and 3rd se­nior male and fe­male; 1st, 2nd and 3rd vet 40 male and fe­male; and 1st, 2nd, 3rd vet 50 male and fe­male.

The race will be­gin at 9.30am and there will be a stage area with mu­sic to en­ter­tain spec­ta­tors un­til the run­ners re­turn.

Clyde 2’s Gina Mckie will be giv­ing a commentary as the run­ners re­turn to Cas­tle Street. There will also be a stage set up in Strath­clyde Park play­ing mu­sic and of­fer­ing en­cour­age­ment to run­ners, with wa­ter pro­vided around the half­way point.

En­ter­ing the Hamil­ten 10k is very sim­ple. All you have to do to is log on to www.en­trycen­ and look for the Hamil­ten logo.
