Ro­tar­i­ans gath­er­for meet­ing

Mem­bers of the Ro­tary Club of Hamil­ton gath­ered last Thurs­day evening.

The guest speaker was Quar­ter man Gary Walker, the sci­en­tific and reg­u­la­tion ser­vices man­ager at Glas­gow City Coun­cil. He spoke about Fu­ture City Glas­gow, a pro­gramme to be­come a world-lead­ing ‘smart’ city.

He pro­vided many ex­am­ples of the am­bi­tious £24 mil­lion pro­gram which de­liv­ers wide-rang­ing in­te­gra­tion of ser­vices pro­vided for the city’s staff, res­i­dents and vis­i­tors – in­clud­ing en­ergy, health, pub­lic trans­port and in­tel­li­gent street light­ing.

Ro­tar­i­ans meet ev­ery Thurs­day at Hamil­ton Golf Club at 6.15pm. Tom Pur­die will talk tonight (Septem­ber 13) on ‘The Ul­ti­mate Sac­ri­fice’. Next Thurs­day (Septem­ber 20) Dr Matthew Har­vey’s topic will be ‘Retrieval’ and on Septem­ber 27 Mar­garet Mor­ton will dis­cuss ‘How Not To Run A Busi­ness’.
