Talkabout agreat nightout
Hamilton Speakers Club met last Thursday evening in Ferniegair Hall.
The plans for the forthcoming season were outlined. Each speaker is encouraged to give a fresh speech, aiming for about seven minutes. As always, the importance of the evaluations is the first line of progress for the speakers. They should be supportive, without trying to outdo the speaker.
Last week, Marjory Kirkwood asked whether we are being conned by cookery programmes.
Henry Mccoll delivered a fascinating talk on the rise of Lever Brothers firm during the 20th century.
And topics master Alex Maxwell challenged members about holiday cruises and the value of shopping around for better deals.
Hamilton Speakers Club is the oldest club of its kind in Lanarkshire and lets people speak in a friendly and supportive atmosphere. Go to www.hamiltonspeakersclub. co.uk for more details.
