Care home is in the money
Summer fete fun raises cash
A Hamilton care home is celebrating after raising £700 at its summer fete.
Staff, residents and families at Lornebank Care Centre got together recently to round off an active and exciting summer with the event.
As part of the festivities, Royal Albert Hall entertainer Christian performed a series of songs and dances.
Stalls and activities kept the crowds entertained as neighbours of the home enjoyed socialising with residents and their families.
In addition to the celebratory mood, the event raised a large amount which will be used by the team to organise fun activities for residents.
Guests at the fete were treated to an exclusive first-look tour of Willowbank House, the new 33-bedroom unit, which will welcome its first residents soon.
The construction of Willowbank House is just one way in which the home is planning to increase its capacity as part of a wider £2.8 million expansion and refurbishment project.
As the home looks to increase the level of care, existing facilities at Lornebank have also been significantly upgraded to refresh and revitalise the home’s bedrooms as well as the communal areas.
Residents will also soon be able to socialise, play games and relax in the new on-site Garden Café, which will offer a varied menu of drinks and snacks when it opens later this year as well as a view of the new landscaped gardens.
Samuel Maierovits, managing director at Hudson Healthcare, said: “The last few months have been busy for all at Lornebank Care Centre, culminating in the grand summer fete.
“Residents, staff and families are excited by the prospect that they will soon be able to enjoy and benefit from the enhanced facilities. Thank you to all who have contributed and made this great achievement possible.
“We are all thrilled that the works at the home are entering their final stages which, when complete, will enable us to offer the same high standard of care to a greater number of residents.” Hamilton’s Blameless Charity will host a family Halloween celebration at the Whitehill Neighbourhood Centre on Sunday, October 28. The fancy dress event will also feature Magic Den’s Magical Halloween Spectacular Show, and will run from 4pm to 6pm.
