Stam­pof suc­cess at­lat­est meet­ing

La­nark­shire Philatelic So­ci­ety held their weekly meet­ing in Hamil­ton last Fri­day evening. Mem­bers wel­comed vis­i­tors from Dundee Philatelic So­ci­ety.

Harry Jack­son dis­played three dif­fer­ent eras of Ger­man his­tory. He be­gan with the Ger­man states as they ex­isted be­fore the First World War, then stamps is­sued be­tween 1906 and 1923 and stamps from af­ter the Sec­ond World War.

Charles Lloyd fol­lowed with his dis­play on Zim­babwe from the time it gained in­de­pen­dence.

Dr Brian Dow led mem­bers in giv­ing warm thanks to both guests for pre­sent­ing “such di­verse and very in­for­ma­tive and in­ter­est­ing dis­plays”.

The stamp club’s next meet­ing will be at 7.30pm in the Cale­do­nian Bowl­ing Club, Mother­well Road, Hamil­ton, on Fri­day, Oc­to­ber 12. Mem­ber Wal­ter Tyther­leigh will also talk about Ger­man his­tory with his dis­play on the Weimar Repub­lic.
