Stampof success atlatest meeting
Lanarkshire Philatelic Society held their weekly meeting in Hamilton last Friday evening. Members welcomed visitors from Dundee Philatelic Society.
Harry Jackson displayed three different eras of German history. He began with the German states as they existed before the First World War, then stamps issued between 1906 and 1923 and stamps from after the Second World War.
Charles Lloyd followed with his display on Zimbabwe from the time it gained independence.
Dr Brian Dow led members in giving warm thanks to both guests for presenting “such diverse and very informative and interesting displays”.
The stamp club’s next meeting will be at 7.30pm in the Caledonian Bowling Club, Motherwell Road, Hamilton, on Friday, October 12. Member Walter Tytherleigh will also talk about German history with his display on the Weimar Republic.
Anyone with an interest in stamps, postal history or postcards is welcome to attend. Go to www. lanarkshireps.co.uk.
