Vol­un­teers gear­ing up to buy new van

Larkhall & District Vol­un­teer Group are set to get them­selves a new bus.

The group are de­lighted to have been awarded £40,000 from the Mor­ri­son Foun­da­tion, which will go to­wards the cost of pur­chas­ing the new minibus.

The Mor­risons Foun­da­tion sup­ports char­i­ties mak­ing a pos­i­tive dif­fer­ence in lo­cal com­mu­ni­ties across Eng­land, Scot­land and Wales.

They award grants for char­ity projects and match fund fundrais­ing from Mor­risons staff match to sup­port char­i­ties de­liv­er­ing projects which help to im­prove peo­ple’s lives.

San­dra Mc­crory, LDVG fund­ing and mar­ket­ing co­or­di­na­tor, said:“we have been hav­ing a lot of prob­lems lately with our minibus tail lifts, which are es­sen­tial in as­sist­ing those with mo­bil­ity is­sues ac­cess our trans­port.

“The pur­chase of a new, state-of-the-art minibus with a fully-work­ing tail lift, will en­able us to con­tinue with this vi­tal sup­port to our mem­bers and the com­mu­nity.”

LDVG plan to buy a 17-seater Minibus Lite, with tail lift and many other use­ful fea­tures.

This‘lite’minibus will re­move the re­quire­ment for a D1 on your driv­ing li­cence and will open up fur­ther vol­un­teer­ing op­por­tu­ni­ties.
