Tickets now on sale for Christmas concert

Hamilton Advertiser - - ALL ABOUT LANARKSHIRE -

Strathaven Choral Society will extend a warm welcome to everyone at their Christmas concert this year.

A Spirit of Christmas will be held on Sunday, December 9, at 7pm, in Strathaven Scout and Guide Centre, Kirk Street.

The programme has a “mixed and appealing seasonal theme” including some Daniel Elder settings, some well-known and not-so-well-known carols, plus lots more.

And the society are delighted to be joining forces once again, with Coalburn Silver Band, who will play some pieces on their own as well as music with the choir.

It is expected that the evening will really raise the roof in the old Strathaven Town Hall, now the Scout and Guide Centre.

Due to the popularity of this concert, the society are hoping that most tickets will be bought in advance to help avoid a peoplejam at the door on a cold night. Tickets can be easily obtained from choir members or via the website www.strathavenchoral. com.

The number of tickets available at the door therefore will be limited. Doors open at 6.15pm so come early to ensure a good seat. Entry is £10 (under-18s get in free but must also acquire a ticket) which includes a programme and also a warming drink and mince pies afterwards as well as a prize draw. A spokesperson said: “We would like to thank the volunteers from St Andrew’s Hospice who, once again, will be helping run our concert by serving teas and helping with the prize draw.

“St Andrew’s provides multidisciplinary support for patients, families and carers in a calm and peaceful environment. The hospice is a registered charity and services are provided free of charge to the adult population of Lanarkshire, without distinction of race, gender or creed.

“Continued provision of these vital services is only possible with your generosity and assistance of the volunteers in their local shops. Please support them any way you can.”

The musical director is Chris Barr and the society are pleased to have their regular accompanist, Razvan Luculescu, with them again this year.

The choir is always looking for new members. If you can sing (you don’t have to be able to read music but it helps), Strathaven Choral Society will welcome you.

Details can be accessed through the website at www. strathavenchoral.com.

Feeling festive Everyone is excited for the Christmas concert
