Next phase of ‘Cherry Hill’ gets go ahead
More than 45 new homes are set to be built in Larkhall.
Applicant Lovell Partnership Limited plan to build 49 houses with associated roads and infrastructure on land north of Robert Smilie Primary School.
The development would form phase 2 of the Lovell Homes residential project “Cherry Hill.” The proposed dwellings would include 29 detached and 20 semidetached houses with a mixture of three and four bedroom house types.
All homes would be two storeys height with a modern design.
Car parking provision would be provided within the driveways of the individual plots.
Twenty letters of objection were received by South Lanarkshire in Council in relation to the plans. Many had concerns about the amount of traffic which will be generated by the development and will end up entering the round-about off Margaretvale Place.
Others raised some concerns over current traffic calming measures which, they say, are inadequate and with increased traffic the situation will not be eased. However, officials in their report to the planning committee this week stated: “The proposal has no adverse impact on residential or visual amenity nor raises any environmental or infrastructure issues and complies with Policies 1,2, 4, 5, 12, 14, 16 and 17 of the adopted South Lanarkshire Local Development Plan.
Councillors granted the application on Tuesday at the Planning Committee.
