Hamilton Advertiser - - ALL ABOUT LANARKSHIRE - Shirley Bartynek

Larkhall Councillor Jackie Burns last week visited the breakfast clubs established at Hareleeshill Primary School, St Mary’s Primary School, and Netherburn Primary School.

The clubs, which have been funded by the council, are delivered and supported by the Machan Trust. Councillor Burns said: “I fully support the value and importance of investing in the delivery of free breakfast clubs to all schools in Larkhall, Ashgill, Netherburn and Quarter which have been planned over a period of time.

“This proposal will provide benefits to children and their families and ensure that a healthy breakfast is provided to help learning and attendance and, most importantly, to raise attainment.

“At first hand, I have seen how young primary pupils have been motivated and fed early in the morning and more settled when starting school at 9am.”

Councillor Burns will be holding his surgeries on Saturday, November 11, at Larkhall Community Centre at 10am and then again at Quarter Primary School 11.15am.

Any elderly or infirm constituents who are unable to attend can arrange a home visit by calling 01698 454089.
