Sophie Fullerlove, The Spring Arts & Heritage Centre

“I have been lucky enough to lead the team at The Spring for the last five years. The Spring is a small place where big things happen. We’re an arts centre, theatre, museum, gallery, café and shop. Our building is in the centre of Havant, but our reach extends across the county and we take performances right across the borough. Our 26 staff and 95 volunteers are all passionate about the role cultural organisations have within communities and support us in putting on events that make local residents stop in their tracks.

I don’t live in Havant, but commute each day from Southampton along the dreaded M27. Getting here makes it worthwhile though as the borough is an amazing place. An evening can’t be better spent than a walk down the Hayling Billy line (stopping for a drink at The Wheelwright’s Arms and The Ship in Langstone at either end) or taking a trip to Hayling Island for a dip in the sea after a busy day. However, my favourite experience is seeing audiences leave The Spring after a performance, looking so happy.”
