Colourful echo from the rural past

Harefield Gazette - - NEWS -

READER Bill Jeffries spotted this colourful piece of antique farm machinery on the roundabout at the junction of Harvil Road and Swakeleys Road in Ickenham.

Although it has been there a while, nobody has been brave enough to cross the busy road to get a picture of this relic of the area’s rural past among the wild flowers.

Or did Mr Jeffries get out a long lens?

“As always I had my old faithful Nikon D7000 with me,” he said.

Appropriately, he and his wife, Jenny, were on their way to the recycling centre in Harvil Road at the time.

This old implement is a classic example of recycling, if only for ornamental purposes.
