A shabby success story
CARE home staff have been giving old furniture a ‘shabby chic’ makeover.
They have been busy sanding, painting and distressing items as part of a vintage-style makeover at the home at Colham Road Care Home, Hillingdon.
Their hard work has helped brighten up residents’ bedrooms and communal areas by adding a splash of colour and up-cycling their existing furniture.
The new look has proved a hit with residents who have welcomed the staff ’s efforts to come up with budget-friendly ideas to add character to the home.
Support manager Angela Walkling said: “It’s important for our residents to be comfortable and feel at home here at Colham Road.
“Our recent redecoration has made a great difference and has created a more relaxing environment with personalised touches for everyone. The up-cycling has allowed our staff to play a part in re-using resources and transforming the rooms.”
The home, which is run by Hillingdon Council, provides residential care for people with profound physical and learning disabilities who require round-the-clock support.
