A SHOPLIFTER has been jailed for eight weeks and banned from Uxbridge town centre.

Luigi Inglese, 38, had stolen from numerous shops in the town, a court was told.

Inglese, of Station Road, Hayes, pleaded guilty at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on August 15 to four charges of theft.

The thefts occurred between October 2013 and this month.

As well as the prison sentence, he was put on an two-year anti-social behaviour order (ASBO) banning him from the town centre.

The order states he must not remain on any retail premises if asked to leave by any member of staff.

Speaking after the court case, Acting Sergeant James Burgess, of the West London Policing Team, said: “This ASBO will act as a serious and powerful deterrent.

“It will help to ensure that our retail premises will be free of Ingleses’s criminal activity for the duration of the order.”
