Brunel bof­fin third in list of dis­abled aca­demics

PRO­FES­SOR Peter Beres­ford OBE has been named in a list of the top 10 most in­flu­en­tial dis­abled peo­ple in academia.

The pro­fes­sor of so­cial pol­icy and direc­tor of the Cen­tre for Ci­ti­zen Par­tic­i­pa­tion at Brunel Univer­sity, in Kingston Lane, Uxbridge, and chair­man of the Shap­ing Our Lives net­work, came third in a list com­piled by the Dis­abil­ity News Ser­vice.

Prof Stephen Hawk­ing and se­nior lec­turer at Nor­wich Med­i­cal School, Dr Tom Shake­speare, were named as first and sec­ond re­spec­tively by a panel.

The univer­sity has been named as one of Lon­don’s top uni­ver­si­ties for stu­dent sat­is­fac­tion, ac­cord­ing to the Na­tional Stu­dent Sur­vey (NSS).

Re­sults show that 89 per cent of stu­dents were sat­is­fied over­all with their ex­pe­ri­ence at univer­sity – up two per cent on last year.
